MINIATURE BOOKMAKING WORKSHOP
Small Wonder Short Story Festival 2012
Drop-In Family Workshop
A drop in family-friendly workshop held during Small Wonder Short Story Festival 2012. Under instruction of Lee Shearman, visitors were shown how to construct their own miniature pocket book and also collaborated in creating a single collaged pop-up bookwork. Two workstations were set up in the Arabian tent at Charleston Trust.
Workstation One : Miniature Bookmaking
Participants were shown how to construct their very own miniature concertina book, complete with bellyband wrap or coloured ribbon. Over the course four hours thirty books were made.

Workstation Two : Concertina Bookmaking
Each participant was given a 4-page section of paper and a selection of imagery from a volume of Young Persons Science Encyclopedias. Working in small groups the participants created multi-coloured collages featured simple pop-up sections. The individual sections were then folded into pages, joined together to form a single 44-foot long bookwork.
